Safety should never come at the cost of unnecessary privacy.
Fortera Digital Safety is being designed with privacy, responsible data handling, and child safety at the center of the product experience.
Our privacy approach
Fortera's goal is to provide families with meaningful digital safety information while minimizing unnecessary collection, exposure, and retention of sensitive information.
1. Information We Handle
The information Fortera handles depends on the features used, the device involved, permissions granted by the user, and the services available at the time.
Depending on the product configuration, this may include account information, device information, application settings, safety preferences, and safety-related signals generated by supported features.
Fortera's product philosophy is to avoid collecting information simply because it is technically possible to collect it.
2. How Information Is Used
Information may be used to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Fortera's services.
Safety functionality
Safety-related information may be processed to generate alerts, summaries, recommendations, or other safety signals for authorized guardians.
Account functionality
Account information may be used to authenticate users, maintain family relationships, manage settings, and provide access to the service.
Product improvement
Where permitted and appropriate, information may be used to maintain reliability, security, and improve the service. Any future use of sensitive information will be subject to applicable privacy requirements and the disclosures provided to users.
3. Children's Privacy
Child privacy is a fundamental consideration in the design of Fortera Digital Safety.
Because Fortera is intended to support families and may involve children's information, the final product will be designed to address applicable children's privacy requirements, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable.
Depending on the final product, parental authorization, consent, account controls, and other safeguards may be required before certain information is collected or processed.
Fortera will not treat an AI safety system as a substitute for parental responsibility, legal requirements, or appropriate human judgment.
5. Data Retention
Fortera's goal is to retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required by law or legitimate security and operational requirements.
Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and the feature involved.
As the product develops, Fortera will provide more specific retention information where appropriate.
6. Security
Fortera takes the security of user information seriously and intends to use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information handled.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. Security practices may evolve as Fortera's infrastructure and products develop.
7. Parent & User Choices
Depending on applicable law and the features being used, parents and authorized users may have rights regarding personal information associated with their account or child profile.
These rights may include requesting access, correction, deletion, or other actions regarding certain information.
Requests can be made through the appropriate Fortera support channel once those processes are available.
8. Changes to This Policy
Fortera may update this Privacy Policy as the product, technology, legal requirements, or business practices change.
When material changes are made, Fortera will take reasonable steps to provide appropriate notice.
9. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, privacy practices, or Fortera's approach to child safety, please contact the Fortera Digital Safety team.
Privacy is part of the safety system.
Protecting children online means more than detecting potential risks. It also means thinking carefully about what information is collected, who can access it, how long it is retained, and why it is needed.
Fortera is being developed with those questions in mind from the beginning rather than treating privacy as something added after the product is built.
